FC FUTURES is an initiative by EA SPORTS aimed at meaningfully investing in grassroots football at a local level. Together with LA LIGA and their shared purpose of growing football for all, they want to make it more accessible – regardless of geographical location or socio-economic background.

EA SPORTS in collaboration with LALIGA, have taken their FC FUTURES initiative to four new cities around the world as part of a commitment to invest significantly in grassroots football through product innovation, community investment and partner initiatives across the foundations of football.

Together, EA SPORTS FC and LALIGA share a common goal to continue growing football from the ground up, and the revitalisation of community pitches in Málaga (Spain); Singapore; Cape Town (South Africa) and Jalisco (Mexico) over the past month is another tangible example of that commitment to provide access and promote participation amongst children, regardless of geographical location or socio-economic background.

Following the launch of the Francisco De Laguna pitch in Madrid last year, EA SPORTS and LALIGA have continued to work together with local governments around the world to create safe, social spaces for young aspiring footballers to practice and develop their skills.

Pitches were revealed to their communities during special launch events attended by local government officials and LALIGA and EA SPORTS representatives. Over one hundred local children were in attendance across these four events and received unique training sessions with LALIGA ambassadors Fernando Morientes, Gaizka Mendieta, Miguel Torres and Nassief Morris. An estimated 65,000 local residents spanning these four areas have been able to enjoy the renovated facilities since they were unveiled last month.

The project involved close collaboration with local artists from each city, Play in Colors in Malaga, Tobyato, in Singapore; Karabo Poppy, in Cape Town and Trasheer, in Jalisco. Each pitch has been transformed and brought back to life with unique designs and symbols representing local culture.

“Through FC FUTURES, EA SPORTS FC is investing in the future of football. A future that involves providing young people the tools they need to make a positive impact on the game and pursue their dreams,” said James Salmon, Senior Director, Marketing at EA SPORTS FC. “Our vision is to inspire the world to love football and our mission is to provide greater access to sport. Our continued partnership and investment alongside LALIGA is another step towards this”.

Jorge de la Vega, Executive Director of LALIGA “We are confident that FC FUTURES LIGA is going to bring great joy to these communities. We want to support the children who live in these areas so that they can continue to play football, offering them the means and spaces where they can enjoy the game  and continue to be linked to the values of this sport, which we share at LALIGA and EA SPORTS”.

In addition to the refurbishment of pitches, EA SPORTS FC FUTURES also focuses on other important pillars including access to education through scholarships, the development of grassroot coaches and the distribution of training equipment through NGO’s.
