GTA Online is a dynamic, ever-evolving online universe for up to 30 players, where you can rise from street-level hustler to become a kingpin of your own criminal empire.

Perico in The Cayo Perico Heist; to the social spaces of the street racing underground of Los Santos Tuners and the Nightclubs of After Hours and The Diamond Casino & Resort; plus an endless stream of Rockstar and player-created races, matches, modes, activities, and events and more, ready to play solo or with friends.
Whether running a celebrity “fixer” agency, planning and executing complex Heists, tricking out high-octane vehicles, booking world-class, real-world DJs for an underground nightclub, or competing in Stunt Races, the latest Adversary Modes, a round of golf, and much more, players can explore and deeply engage in a wide range of experiences across more than 40 massive, free-to-download updates, with more to come.
Plus, with the recently streamlined interface on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, featuring the Career Builder’s curated path to criminal success, exclusive new content and migration bonuses for PS4 and Xbox One players, a host of quality-of-life improvements and more, there’s never been a better time to play GTA Online.
The Career Builder
Before players dive into the action, they’ll jumpstart their criminal careers through the Career Builder, a tool for players which guides them up the criminal ladder, replacing the older tutorial sequence where players entered the world simply armed and dangerous.
Players can choose from one of four criminal career paths – Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner, or Biker – each with its own illicit focus:
• Executives steal, wheel, and deal in Special Cargo, contraband of all kinds they’ll move through their dedicated warehouses – though all orders of business are handled from a high-rise Office.
• Gunrunners are the dominant force in the illegal arms trade in Southern San Andreas, adding to the ubiquity of military-grade weaponry on the streets of Los Santos from the safety of their Bunkers.
• Nightclub Owners are skilled in After Hours dealings, notorious for their world-class DJ hook-ups leading to epic residences at their fully realized, highly customizable Nightclubs, and of course, their keen ability to run fronts.
• Bikers are entrenched in the roving criminal underworld of Motorcycle Clubs, with expertise in counterfeiting and narcotics.
Once players have chosen one of these careers, they’ll gain a sizable bonus to use on a select property, a powerhouse vehicle, and the necessary firepower to kickstart their enterprise.
Players will begin their journey in GTA Online in the Los Santos Police Precinct HQ, where they’ll create their character. Once processed and released, they’ll be instructed to get in touch with their mechanic for a fresh set of wheels. On the way to their new property, they’ll need to hit a weapons stash (and take care of a few Ballas along the way). Once at their new property, they’ll receive a quick tour of the location and name their Organization or Motorcycle Club before being directed to the property’s laptop to launch their first mission as professional criminal.
Players can also return to the Career Builder and select a new career at any time, though the windfall is a one-time only bonus when setting a new character.
Your Criminal Empire
The Career Builder’s newly minted criminals can reap the rewards as budding entrepreneurs.
CEOs (for Executives), VIPs (for Gunrunners and Nightclub Owners), and MC Presidents
(for Bikers) can order new and Personal Vehicles on-demand, hire Bodyguards, take on VIP Challenges and VIP Work to earn additional income, coordinate Special Cargo and Sell Missions and much more as they climb to the top of the criminal pile.
Players can also expand beyond their chosen criminal careers, from operating an Acid Lab (introduced in Los Santos Drug Wars), to becoming the owner of an Auto Shop customizing and delivering customer vehicles, and more.
Jump into the Action
In addition to some of the more recent major story-driven updates such as The Contract, Los Santos Tuners, and The Cayo Perico Heist, GTA Online is filled (and regularly updated) with additional activities such as Freemode events, adversary and versus modes, missions, races, and much more for players and their friends to take on across the world.
• Freemode: The world of GTA Online starts in Freemode, which mirrors the classic GTA open world experience with features tailored for multiple players, including shared social spaces such as Nightclubs, old school Arcades, the LS Car Meet and the Diamond Casino & Resort.
From Freemode, players can gain access to everything GTA Online has to offer and begin their journey from hustler to kingpin by meeting contacts to take on any of the 300+ missions and contracts available, such as planning a Heist, opening a Nightclub, or simply taking on gang rivalries with Lamar Davis and friends. Players can find the location of new missions by checking the in-game map and hovering over dedicated letter icons to learn more about each set of missions.
• Competitive Modes: GTA Online also contains a host of competitive modes. Whether behind the wheel of a weaponized go-kart in Kart Krash or evading the LSPD in the cat and mouse mad dash of The Vespucci Job, taking to the sky for a classic aerial Dogfight or stepping into the future with the Shotaro bike light trail battle of Deadline, there are over 650 Adversary or Versus Modes within GTA Online being cycled in and out of the game on a regular basis.
